The BMW 5 Series G30 already comes with a sharp, high-resolution EVO display — so the goal was never to replace it. It was to unlock a full surround-view system that runs natively on that original screen. Instead of an aftermarket monitor that ruins the OEM look, the driver gets a factory-style bird’s-eye view, activated automatically in reverse and on demand, with all the original menus, buttons and vehicle settings untouched. On the EVO system, this also means the car can keep Apple CarPlay and the 360° camera at the same time — no compromise between the two.
What We Installed on the BMW G30
This is a complete 360° camera system, not a single reverse camera. Four cameras cover the full perimeter of the car: one at the front, one at the rear, and one in each side mirror. All four feed into a dedicated interface box that stitches them into a single top-down bird’s-eye view and sends it to the factory EVO screen. The system supports BMW NBT, EVO and MGU head units, and is set to the correct generation through an 8-position DIP switch on the interface — for this G30, configured for EVO. The kit also includes USB dashcam recording: with a USB flash drive connected, it films around the car whenever the ignition is on.

Inside the Process
Installing a 360° system on the G30 is precision work. The dashboard and center console were carefully opened to reach the factory head unit and wiring, and the interface box was tapped into the original video feed — no cutting into the car’s core electronics. Each of the four cameras was mounted and aligned: front, rear, and one in each side mirror housing. The final and most important step is calibration, where all four camera feeds are stitched and aligned so the top-down bird’s-eye view is accurate and seamless on the factory EVO screen.
